Ministry of Deceit
We’ve been in the news quite a bit recently
Our petition - change.org/JusticeForThe29 has notched up nearly 25,000 signatures so far. Thank you for your support, if you have signed, and if you haven’t, please do. And please share with everyone you know and on your social channels.
We generated a significant amount of media coverage following the massive Afghan data leak scandal, because in our view it is symptomatic of the way the Ministry of Defence seeks to cover up its own mess - just as it has done with the Chinook crash which killed our loved ones, on an unirworthy helicopter - and we said so on social media.
Media coverage
We attracted media attention with articles in more than 200 publications, including:
The Times - Afghan leak cover-up boosts campaign for new Chinook crash inquiry
The Independent - Public ‘sick of cover-ups’ at MoD, says Chinook crash campaigner
The Standard - Public sick of cover ups
Perspective Magazine - Public ‘sick of cover-ups’ at MoD
We were also featured several times in the Daily Express, which is planning to run a series of articles on our families’ fight for the truth.
Daily Express - MoD labelled Ministry of Deceit
Daily Express - Starmer and Mod face cover up like Hillsborough and must do one thing
The Express reporter, Conor Wilson, also mentioned us in a feature on LBC Radio - you can listen here.
Joel Hornby’s visit to the Mull of Kintyre also featured in dozens of publications, thanks to the Press Association.
The Independent - Son of Chinook 1994 helicopter crash victim visits memorial and asks for answers
Antrim Guardian - Chinook victim's son renews inquiry call
West Coast Today - Joel Horny shows his son his grandfather’s name
Joel’s visit was followed up by an interview with the Campbeltown Courier, which has long supported the families’ call for truth and transparency about that fateful night.
Campbeltown Courier - 'Dad, we are still fighting for you'.
We also featured widely at the launch of the petition, when our families accused the MoD of losing its moral compass - a strong feeling shared by all of those involved in the Chinook Justice Campaign. That’s why we have called on the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, to intervene and overturn the MoD’s rejection of our calls for transparency.

Independent - Crash families criticise MoD for ‘losing moral compass’
